Waiting Topless
When the Grand View Topless Coffee shop in Vassalboro, Maine opened in February 2009, Lisa Beaudreau and Star Cunningham both found jobs there. "Yes, I am a topless waitress, but I'm just a regular normal person in society," Cunningham says. "I honestly don't think in this economy that there is a job out there that would pay roughly the same."
This audio slideshow depicts the waitresses, at work and at home, and the reactions of the restaurant's customers.
The project appears on TheSundayBest.net, a "crowdfunded" multimedia documentary Website based in Portland, Maine, that subsists on public donations. Its focus is "people who deserve recognition for what they do," and its intent is "to present more everyday acts of heroism in audio-visual slideshows and show these narrated visual portraits to a wider audience." It is updated every Sunday.
